Part of the crypto game is knowing what winds are blowing, when to catch the wave, and when or go the opposite direction and swim against the tide.

One of the major macro investors, Jordi Visser, has recently gone big on ETH, saying that he sees Ether as leading the charge towards asset tokenization, a push crucial in the development of agentic AI for payments.

A former hedge fund manager and a macro investor with over 30 years of experience, Visser sees AI and tokenization intertwining in the near future. Digital assets like Ethereum or stablecoins will be at the center of the merger, and with the likes of DTCC advancing its tokenization service with 50+ major firms in July, the tokenization reality is kicking in sooner than most people think.

Jordi Visser on Tokenization and AI

AI agents are with us“, argued Visser, appearing on the Pomp podcast with Anthony Pompliano. “They need food, and that food is not physical food. It is tokens.”

In other words, Visser claims that since AI agents can’t access banking services, autonomous online payments will be conducted via digital assets. And since ETH is the world’s largest blockchain for asset tokenization with over 60% of real-world tokenized assets, it makes perfect sense to invest in Ether for the foreseeable future. It’s also one of the most popular tokens for crypto gambling.

I bought Ethereum because I think that tokenization reality is going to start in the summertime.” His confidence tokenization goes even deeper. Visser sees tokenization as a solution to the capital trapped in dormant assets like venture capital or private equity, or retail. He sees it as a structural thing, necessary to unlock these assets.

Tokenization is actually needed for no other reason than price discovery for a lot of these things that they’re trapped in,” argues Visser.

Agentic AI Payments

As Head of AI Macro Nexus Research at 22V and a founder of Founder Visser-Labs LLC, Visser is in the pole position to track the movement that agentic AI is making. According to recent research by x402.org, autonomous payments over the last 30 days reached a transaction volume of $75.41 million, which is $24.24 million more than in the 30 days prior. Moreover, the number of buyers more than triples the number of sellers, showcasing a healthy balance between supply and demand.

At the same time, blockchains have been working in lockstep to implement agentic AI payment protocols. One of the more recent cases is the Algorand Foundation, which has partnered with Google to enable full x402 support for Google’s AP2 Agentic Payments Protocol launched last September together with Coinbase. Ethereum continues to serve as the backbone for programmable smart contracts, Additionally, Algorand’s own blockchain has piloted AI-driven payment workflows for enterprise clients, demonstrating practical applications beyond theory.

The Summertime of Tokenization

I don’t think enough people are talking about tokenization and what’s happening and what they basically announced to start in July“.

Visser is of course talking about the DTCC actively advancing its DTC tokenization service. On May 4, DTCC announced collaboration with over 50 leading financial firms to bridge traditional finance and digital assets. Some of the names include Bank of America, J.P. Morgan, Blackrock, Morgan Stanley, and Tradeweb.

The service, set for limited production trades in July 2026 and full launch in October, will enable tokenization of real-world assets while preserving investor protections and operational resilience. The plan is to facilitate tokenized assets using DTC’s tokenization service and turn real-world assets held by DTC into digital tokens, while keeping the same ownership rights, protections, and benefits as traditional assets.

DTC assets currently total over $114 trillion, which is why the announcement is generally seen as a huge step in the right direction towards mainstream adoption of tokenization. It’s the coming-of-age moment reminiscent of the introduction of stablecoins.
